What Is Cloud 9?

Cloud 9 is a two-level floating platform moored above a coral reef in the Mamanuca Islands, about 45–60 minutes by fast boat from Port Denarau. It has an internationally stocked cocktail bar, an Italian wood-fired pizza restaurant, snorkelling directly from the platform, sun decks, day beds, and rotating DJ sets. It is unlike anything else in Fiji — or in the Pacific.

The concept is brilliantly simple: take everything great about a beach bar and place it in the middle of the ocean above a pristine reef. Instagram and TikTok made it famous globally; the platform's appearance and the surrounding turquoise water photograph extraordinarily well. But the reality of spending a day there transcends the social media version.

The Day Experience

Hotel pickup to Port Denarau Marina, then a 45–60 minute boat crossing through the Mamanuca Islands to reach the platform. On arrival, you receive your FJD $60 bar tab — enough for 3–4 cocktails or 5–6 beers. The lower deck gives direct ocean access for snorkelling above the reef below. The main deck houses the bar and dining area. The upper sun deck offers panoramic 360° views.

Full Day vs Half Day

Full day departs at 9am, returns around 4–5pm — 5 to 6 hours on the platform. Half day departs 1pm, returns at 5–6pm. Full day is better value; the morning is quieter before the half-day crowd arrives. Both deliver the complete Cloud 9 experience.

Tips for Cloud 9

• Claim a day bed immediately on arrival — they go fast
• Bring your own snorkel mouthpiece if possible
• The FJD $60 tab disappears quickly on cocktails — beer and wine stretch further
• Card payments only on platform — no cash accepted
• Wear water shoes; platform surfaces can be hot and rough
